Shop news

Hi all.  Hope everyone is having a good week, wherever in the world you may be.

There are a few things that I want to touch on about the shop and polishes.

It has been brought to my attention that some people are not fully reading the descriptions for each polish.  At the end of each description, there is a note about shipping.  Each listing says that shipping is $5.35 due to Etsy not having a tiered shipping option.  But what some people are NOT seeing is that if you only order ONE bottle, I do refund part of that shipping to you.  I charge $3 to ship one bottle because those bubble mailers I use... they aren't free.  Neither is the packaging, using the filler and bubble wrap and bags.  I make nothing on shipping.  Factoring in bubble mailers, bubble wrap, and the other stuff, I come out dead even or actually lose a little to ship one bottle.  And I don't really like the bubble mailers.  They are not always that sturdy.

The flat rate boxes are free to me.  So I make nothing on shipping.  If you get a flat rate box with polishes, you pay $5.35 which is the exact price the post office charges when we walk in there and get a label for it.  However, I do lose a little money on shipping boxes due to the filler and packaging.  Which is fine.  I am the one that decided to use filler and not just wrap the bottles in bubble wrap.  So, it's fine and dandy.

What I am getting the most questions about is if I will make an exception to the flat rate shipping and send the polishes first class.  No.  That would require me to weigh every single package that I ship out and that gets immensely time consuming and tedious.  And with the flat rate boxes, they get to you fairly fast.  I can ship from here to CA in 2 days with flat rate.  First class is the slowest method and causes a headache on this end.  Anyone out there that has had to do it will completely understand.

And making an exception for some and not others is not fair. Especially all of those that have already paid the flat rate shipping since the shop opened.

I am sorry if this upsets anyone.  It sucks that shipping outside the US costs more.  But if I buy something from out of the country, I have to pay higher shipping to get it to me as well.

This is something that I have been thinking about for a week or so and I think I have made the decision so it should be announced.

The polishes from the first collection will be retired sometime soon.

With the first release containing 12 total polishes and then adding 6 more last week, that's 18.  I have 2 stand alone polishes that will be for sale in the next week and then a new collection right after that, and more stand alone polishes as we go.  That's a lot of polishes to keep track of and store in my home.  There are 4 people living in this house and with only 1400 square feet of usable space (and I use that term loosely), it's really hard to store so many made bottles of polish.

It's either combine the kids into one room again or store fewer polishes at a time.  And since the kids function better and we have less problems with them having their own rooms, there is no WAY I am putting them together again.

So, once the Leverage polishes (Hitter, Hacker, Grifter, Thief, Mastermind) are gone this month, they are gone for now.  I might bring them back at random times but it's not a guarantee.  The same goes for the Bring It On polishes (Toro and Clover) and the 4 ultra fine sparkles (Oz, Abyss, Unda Da Sea, and Glades).

The Clue Collection will go through the same shelving once the next collection rolls out.

All polishes CAN come back if the need arises and people really want them but for now, I am going to retire them.  So, if there is one you have been waiting to get, you might want to get it now.

Each month, there will be a brand new collection with AT LEAST 3-4 polishes in the collection.  And I am going to try and do a new stand alone polish every week or so.

When we get to move to a new and bigger place, I may reevaluate this since there will be actual space for all of the supplies and bottles that it takes to produce polish.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I hope you all understand why I must do this for now.

Have a great week.  And by this weekend, I hope to have previews of the 2 stand alone polishes that I currently tweaking.

  1. Can't wait to see your new polishes! :)

  2. i think that's fair - glad i got my back up of Oz and the other "fines" when i did! xx
